• Well, right in the middle of CTI I’ve been propelled into an impossible situation I. didn’t anticipate.

Just over a week ago my friend, the young. mayor of our london Borough asked me if I thought I could organise a fundraising concert for Ukraine.

I found myself saying yes. Just Yes. with less than two weeks, not having sung in public or assembled my choir since before lockdown, or been in any performance capacity.

Ive never organised a concert actually! Certainly not one like this, requiring gathering together of people I don’t know.

So I decided to engage my CTI tools, do lots of Big Asks, lots of I Don’t Knows, lots of My Business, Your Business and Gods Business….

And here we are with 3 sleeps to go.

I have two members of Parliament, possibly a Royal, 2 choirs, 2 accompanists, a flamenco guitarist, a virtuoso violinist, a young singer songwriter, a concert pianist, three musical directors, a wine buyer donating his wares, some cake makers and several volunteers working behind the scenes and on the bar.

I am calm. I am making lots of mistakes and I even dropped my lunch on the floor today in a hurry but just laughed.

I am also responsible for lighting, sound tech, stage management and navigating egos and expectations!

As a performer, who usually just shows up and sings the songs I have new found respect for those who make it happen.

Watch this space, chums. This isn’t what I anticipated but it appears it’s what I am doing!

(Or it’s what is being done through me!)
