Paul McCarty posted an update
Hello,
I have just watched Micheal’s day one video and thought, I am going to start today.A request for assistance, can you help?
I am working with another veteran (Dave Hill), and both of us were fortunate enough to have found the Three Principles and wish to help other veterans and serving personnel achieve peace of mind.
Dave is a Three Principles practitioner, based in Scotland and a former British Army Officer. His discovery of the Three Principles in 2016 has led to him wanting to change the way we interact with mental well-being and to help as many veterans and serving personnel as he can by being more gentle with themselves and those around them.
I was initially diagnosed with Complex PTSD in 1995 following service with the United Nations in the former Yugoslavia in 1993. I walked away from all treatment and spent the next 25 years, battling the symptoms until a breakdown in physical and mental health forced me to seek help finally. Without the need for medication or ongoing counselling, I am now living a healthy life and want to do all I can to help others.
Missing in Action – Hope beyond trauma for the Military Community
Our vision is to collate a series of short responses within a book from people who have had insights into the more profound nature of life.
While the book has the Three Principles as a central theme, we are aware that there are many different ways that people have found peace and we would like to make others aware of them too; we are all different and experience the world in our unique way.
We are reaching out to you and other veterans and their families to ask for fifteen minutes of your time and see if we can breathe life into this idea. The idea will be an opportunity to spread understanding and hope in the world and hopefully build a global network of Three Principles veterans at the same time, building on the fantastic work already done by other practitioners.
If you would like to contribute or know someone who might, here are the questions:
Inspiration
1. What inspired you to take part in this book?
Old life2. Looking back, how would you describe life before seeking help?
3. What did you find yourself doing to survive?
What changed4. How did you feel after speaking up and asking for help?
5. What did you see that shifted your understanding and changed your life experience day to day?
Advice6. With what you know now, what advice would you give your former self or anyone who finds themselves in a similar place?
Optional
What are you up to in the world? – A short bio, how can people connect with you/work with you?
A favourite quote to go at the top of your section in the bookYour name: If you prefer to remain anonymous, that is fine as well.
We have created a word document that may make answering the questions a little easier, please contact me, and I will send you the document.
We are happy to get responses in a format that suits, either;
1. Responding in writing and email it back to us at [email protected]
2. Recording a video or audio of your replies (no longer than 15 minutes) this can be something you record yourself.
3. We can chat on Zoom, and we can ask you the questions directly and record your answers.
We’ve had a great start, with three brave and inspirational contributors so far, but the more contributors we find, the more help the book will be to others.
I have attached a short video to promote awareness of the project.
Thank you for taking the time to read my request.
Have a great day!
