Things I’m Avoiding Doing December Challenge Day Twenty-Two – Billable Hours

The very fact that you’re doing this program means that you’ve at least begun prioritizing the things you’d previously been avoiding doing.

Here’s a simple exercise you can do to get a better sense of how far up or down the ladder of priorities your list is currently sitting. You can do this exercise for any individual goal or project on your list and/or you can do it for the list as a whole…

1. Just for fun, guesstimate the number of “billable hours” you’ve put into your goal, project, or list over the past three weeks. This is the number of hours that you would feel comfortable billing a client for if they were paying you to work on it.

2. Starting today (and over the rest of the week if you’re up for it), log all your “billable” time working on your item or list.

In my experience, you’ll fairly quickly notice one of two things. Either you really are putting in the hours and what you’re working on is just something that requires more time than you thought or hoped, OR you’ll realize that until you make this a bit more or a priority (by spending a bit more time and attention on it), there’s no point in beating yourself up about not getting it done.

Have fun, learn heaps, and get curious!

With all my love,
